It’s hard to believe it, but it’s the August Long weekend, and we’re already ½ way through the summer! If you’ve been into any of the major box stores recently, we’re certain you’ll have noticed there are “Back to School” items lining the aisles and the beginnings of Fall décor gracing the shelves. UGH.
When did time start going by so fast? Discussing it at dinner on Sunday, when we think back to summer holidays as kids, it seemed like the 2-month break went by much slower, and the opportunities to fill our days with fun-filled activities were endless. But, now, with our busy family and work schedules, it seems that time is moving so much faster. And it’s become very apparent that if we don’t diligently plan to enjoy them, we’ll simply turn around and the warmer days of summer will be long gone, and the opportunities with them.
This year, in early January, our entire family, yep all 4 generations ages 1 to 86, decided to set the time aside for a 5 day family holiday to the mountains together. We’ve made plans to go swimming, hiking, rock climbing, play bocce ball & board games, maybe throw in a water fight or two… and eat lots of good food. While it may not sound like a relaxing vacation to you. When it comes to our family, taking part in activities together during the day that challenge us, and spending lazy social evenings around a campfire, are truly what works to re-energize our batteries. So, we’re looking forward to encouraging one another when experiencing new activities, cheering each other on in our attempts, and assisting each other in reaching new levels of achievement.
We know it’s not every family that enjoys working and vacationing together. But our family has come to appreciate the value of the shared experiences and the solid Team work that allows us to grow alongside one another. Because, whether we’re supporting the climber to reach new heights, squaring off on the bocce field in a little healthy competition, or cooking smores for the little ones in the group, we truly believe “A Family that plays together, stays together”, and we’re living proof of that!
Sincerely,
The Rosts
