Wow, it’s the middle of June already and once again it’s time to celebrate all the Father’s out there. Typically, this special day is set aside for dads to relax, rest, and recharge their energy levels. In the Rost home it’s also the day our dad is waited on hand and foot with the attitude of “whatever dad wants, dad gets,” with no questions asked.
As a fairly easy-going, laid-back guy, our dad doesn’t ask for, or expect, a lot of fuss over what are considered special occasions, even when the occasion is in celebration of himself. He chooses to take things one day at a time, doing his best to find the good in every situation, and in everyone he meets, and we can’t emphasize enough that he meets a lot of people! You see, our dad is the ultimate social butterfly. In our neighborhood, taking out the garbage is usually a 30-minute job as it involves catching up with each of the neighbors who are also taking out their trash. When vacationing, if you’re hungry, don’t send dad down to barbeque. If you do, the meat will be overdone, and we’ll all be hangry, as cooking dinner is an opportunity for him to chat up every other tourist at the BBQ station, now all over-cooking their dinners too. When we’re at the lake, he’ll come back from fishing on the dock able to relate the names and birthdays of every family member to the fellow fisherfolk that were hoping to cast a line. Yep, our dad has the rare ability to speak to complete strangers as if they were long lost relatives, and in doing so makes each person he meets feel important and respected.
While each of us kids resemble our dad in one way or another, having received a physical feature or two via his DN. It’s fairly apparent, as realtors who speak with new people every day, the particular talent of treating everyone like family was passed down to us all. Just ask our clients!
So, Thanks Dad! We truly appreciate all we learned from you about making sure everyone we meet feels important and respected, and we hope every dad out there feels the same as we wish you all a Happy Father’s Day!
Sincerely,
The Rosts
