Service has always been a major theme in my life. So much so that in 2009 I became a Firefighter Paramedic with Strathcona County, a role I continue to balance with my realty work – four days on / four days off.
The thought of your REALTOR® moonlighting as a Firefighter Paramedic might seem a little strange. I can see that, but I also know my ability to work under extreme pressure, place client care at first priority, and to negotiate as though life depends on it, gives me an advantage other REALTORS® simply don’t have. I appreciate the people who make up my community, and I’ll do whatever I can to make sure the folks I represent are protected.
But Emergency Services isn’t the only experience I draw from to find success in Real Estate. Before becoming a REALTOR®, I repaired homes as a private contractor. Years of renovations gave me a comprehensive understanding of current building codes, construction standards, permit legislation, and zoning bylaws – not to mention an eye for workmanship. I also forged professional relationships with vendors I continue to bring aboard to meet Rost Real Estate’s home repair, staging, and inspection needs, and I’m grateful to have formed networks within local business communities.
My beautiful wife, Leah, and I live with our children in one of the first houses ever built in Sherwood Park – a property we restored to meet our growing family’s needs while raising our kids within its historic walls. There’s another lesson learned: if we can tackle a job that big to secure our dream home, there’s no doubt of my ability to make yours a reality too.
