It’s Spring! The forecast is predicting lovely warm weather for the long Easter Weekend, and, while you may be waiting for the Easter Bunny to arrive with his basket full of chocolate eggs, it’s a good time for you to get hopping and take care of a few important maintenance items that safeguard the value of your home.
1. Take a walk around the exterior of the property to ensure both the slope of the ground, and the downspouts are draining away from the home.
2. Check exterior Hose bib connections to ensure the faucet isn’t dripping and that the water line into the home is sound. If you forgot to disconnect the hose before the cold weather arrived, make certain the line has not cracked as it could result in water leaking into the interior.
3. Make certain eaves troughs are tight to the roof line, even a small gap between the edge of the shingles and the eaves can create a path for water to gather causing damage to the roof. While checking the eaves, it’s also a good time to inspect the roof to make sure all shingles are present and in good shape.
4. If you have central A/C and/or a Sump pump, be sure to inspect and service the units to make sure they are in good working order.
5. Gather up dead leaves and debris that may have collected around the homes exterior to reduce mold and allergens in your yard.
6. Set up your outdoor living space, grab a cool beverage and RELAX!
Completing these necessary maintenance items early in the Spring will not only protect the investment you’ve made in your home, but it will also allow you to spend more time enjoying it during the warmer months too.
Sincerely,
The Rosts
