Though we are still several weeks away from Spring officially, many home stores are already bursting with outdoor items in anticipation of the warmer weather to come. We’ve discovered, that as our senses are directed to thoughts of spring, February can be a month when the itch to see something green and growing inspires us to take on a home update. If you’re like us, your budget may be under a little pressure due to the recent Holiday celebrations. So, we thought to share several inexpensive ways for you to jazz up your home living spaces in order to beat the winter blues.
First, grab a paint tray and brush and pick a fresh new color. We’ll admit that there’s a little more work to this one, but it’s amazing how a fresh coat of paint goes a long way to brighten up tired walls and moods.
Second, create a lively feel to any space with the addition of brightly colored toss cushions and throw blankets in vibrant hues.
Third, increase the amount of light in your home. Open up drapes and window coverings to allow the natural light to flood in, or add a lamp or two to the space. The extra light can help with lower energy levels as we cope with shorter days.
Last, but not least, buy a living indoor plant or two. Begin with low maintenance plants, like succulents, your local garden center can help you choose one that’s good for your homes lighting. Research shows that plants in our home are proven to boost mood, productivity, concentration and creativity.
It’s a long winter here in Alberta, with light at the end of the tunnel, and the days getting longer, if you developed an itch to undertake a home project, we hope these easy tips helped you to scratch it.
Sincerely,
The Rosts
