With only a few days until Christmas, the countdown to the fun and festivities is officially on! Not to mention the last minute shopping for a few specialty items that have become part of our families holiday traditions. After all, Christmas just isn’t Christmas in our homes without a Holiday flavored coffee & land-of-nod Cinnamon buns for breakfast, followed by a glass of Eggnog or hot mulled cider to sip on throughout the day. That means a necessary trip to Greenland Garden Center to buy the mulling spices and take a stroll through the amazing Holiday decorations. Which is generally followed by a much needed stop in Branches cafe to enjoy a holiday treat and replenish our energy reserves. Then it’s off to Sobey’s to pick up the Eggnog, frozen bun dough balls & instant pudding mix so we can set the overnight cinnamon buns before bed on Christmas eve. This family favorite makes breakfast in the morning a snap, since all you have to do is pop the prepared pan in the oven and 25 minutes later the sticky bun are ready to enjoy. Last but not least, a stop at a local coffee shop to buy a package of Holiday flavored coffee, and the traditional must-haves Christmas shopping list is completed.
In each of our family homes, including our parents, the smell of hot cinnamon buns, richly flavored coffee, and mulled spices fills the air on Christmas morning. Then, as we gather together later in the day to celebrate, the leftover cinnamon buns are brought along and snacked on until every last crumb is eaten. The cider too is transported in a Thermos and enjoyed throughout the day, as we’ve discovered. the longer the spices are allowed to suffuse the cranberry juice with their flavors, the better it tastes!
Our family Traditions also include reading the Christmas Story on Christmas Eve before going to bed, enjoying the sound of Christmas Carol’s playing in the background as we open gifts, sharing time together with family and friends, and feasting on a huge Turkey dinner.
We hope that as your family gathers together to Celebrate the Christmas Season, you too will share in many special traditions that create memories for you to treasure all the year through.
From our Families to yours; Merry Christmas!
Sincerely,
The Rosts
